• interventional neuroradiology

Interventional neuroradiology in Turkey is a subspecialty of interventional radiology that involves the use of medical imaging devices in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the central nervous system, head, neck, and spine.

Interventional neuroradiologists use advanced imaging and guidance techniques to guide catheters (very fine plastic tubes) and other tiny instruments into arteries and veins in the head, neck or spine to treat conditions such as strokes or aneurysms.

This specialty is considered minimally invasive and avoids the need for traditional surgery. It reduces the risks to patients, shortens the time spent in the hospital, and shortens the recovery time.

Interventional neuroradiology is used to treat:

Tumors of the head, neck, and spine through embolization or coagulation (injecting medical “glue,” special fine materials, or sand-like particles into the tumor’s blood vessels), which closes the arteries feeding the tumor.
    -Intracranial aneurysm (anerisma)
